PresentationLa Plume de Feu

La Plume de Feu

After more than 20 years doing pyrography, exploring the limits of the technique, I felt myself attracted by the third dimension. I needed to touch what I was drawing. So I discovered new materials, new structures and I studied sculptors: Camille Claudel, Rodin, Moore, as well as contemporaries around me.

Then I discovered bronze and aluminium casting, I realised shapes in wood and I mixed materials. What I am looking for in sculpture is to express some emotions, feelings, slices of life through the shapes I create. Then women were born, I hope full of humanity, femininity, pain and happiness, like myself, like all women, both strong and delicate.

It is not the academical perfection that I am pursuing in my work, but clearly what is expressed, what we can feel by looking at it, by touching it. Each piece has its history, holds my history. Each piece could hold your history.

simultaneously I started drawing fountains. Simple sketches scribbled over table mats or paper pages, some became big drawing, more elaborated, before to be further studied to realise precise blueprints.

Text from Gilbert Constantin (2006)

As part of my presentation is taken from a text written by Gilbert Constantin in 2006, I reproduce here his own words:

"When art is revealed

Every individual has a heritage from birth that comes from his ancestors, his origins and his genetics. This is my conviction. Meet Véronique's gaze, probe it and you will see both her generosity, her strength and her shyness. But above all you will see her thirst for sharing, understanding, listening, exploration and creation. After a journey of more than 20 years in pyrography with mastery, she feels irresistibly attracted to the third dimension, she needs to touch what she draws. She then discovers materials, structures and studies sculptors. Camille Claudel, Rodin, Moore and what is contemporary around her... Stimulation increases. She tries the foundry with bronze, works with wood, cast aluminum and then stone, to finally combine materials, always keeping her integrity. Emotion, feeling are her keywords. Yes, Véronique is an artist of feelings and emotions. To discover her, you have to let go; to have no a priori, to let go to meet her eternal women, full of humanity, femininity, suffering and happiness, who are faithfull to her image. Behind her deep vision, a generous, strong, shy, gentle woman is on the march in creation. She will surprise us again..."
