Sculptures

Watch a short slideshow (in French) about a day at the Monnier foundry in Moutier, early 2011. After having encountered a few hiccups, the artwork has been finalised and two of my sculptures were born that day : "Vide" (Emptiness) et "Spirale" (Spiral).

Terracotta creation

To achieve "Indifference" I shaped 50 clay figures that I then fired. My first terracotta in my own oven!

When creating one of these characters I took a picture every 10 minutes. The shots are of very poor quality but I confess I did not necessarily wash my hands before grabbing my phone... It still gives a good idea of how such a sculpture is assembled, then cut in sections to be emptied andfinally glued together.

Thank you for your understanding, this slide show is only intended to be informative.

A drawing quickly drafted in one shot on a piece of paper and found a few years later. A sculpture crafted by focusing on the line.

Together

Joined, a man's hand and a woman's hand. Together ...

In this short slideshow I show the different steps to go from clay (creation of the sculpture) to wax for the bronze casting.

A tear that can be seen from different angles. A chest opened by pain, physical or psychic pain. The tension is palpable. It is another form of screaming.

Inspired by string art by René Oggier, "Maternity" represents a step towards the purification of features to keep only the "line".

Shout!

"I'll scream until I can't stand no more on my feet"
"I'll help you then so you can scream again"

These are the words that inspired this sculpture.

The man is made of sand-cast aluminum, placed on an piece of olive wood on which is discreetly sketched a woman who keeps him upright. Outstretched fist, he screams again. Open palm he always welcomes. She supports him with all her strength.

Silence

Many people approaching "Inner Pain" grabbed her to sit her down. It took me several years to come to terms with her repositioning and I finally did it, only changing her hair and feet. Thus was born the first of a series of 5 women who will gradually open up.

Rêveries (Daydreaming)

Identical to "Silence". This woman has decided to slowly open up. From one artpiece to the next, she will be able to eventually get into a relaxing posture.

Pensées (Thoughts)

Third in the serie of the sitting women. By lowering her left arm on her right, she slowly opens up. Her legs are not folded as much, her back is less arched. To be continued...
